Developing Our Club
THE BALL WALL IS COMING…..
2022 is set to be a memorable year for our club. We’ve had the ambition to build a ball wall for a long time, and are pleased to announce this is the year the dream becomes a reality. Plans for the build are underway and initial public funding has been secured. The addition of a ball wall at Pearse Park will enable players to have access to a facility available for use all year round. Currently we are hampered in our training due to the off-season unavailability of grass pitches.
The benefits of using a ball wall for camogie/hurling are well documented, with walls becoming increasingly commonplace in other clubs. In a sport where first touch and striking are fundamental, the best way to hone those skills is to practice them over and over again. This practice can take place as part of organised team training sessions, or on an individual basis where players can focus on particular elements of their game.
Delivering a ball wall for our club will benefit current and future players, and create a lasting legacy for generations to come.
We need your support
Building a ball wall is an expensive undertaking and we need to raise over £100k to do it. Once it’s built, we’ll also need to set aside an annual maintenance budget. We’ve got off to a great start in our fundraising efforts and at the start of the year secured a £15k grant from Causeway Coast & Glens Council to get us underway. We have also recently announced new corporate sponsorship partners with their contributions partly to be used for this project over the next three years.
Your support to date in helping us raise the money needed has been second to none, and we hope we can count on you in future to keep supporting us. Keep an eye on our Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp over the coming weeks when we’ll be launching new fundraising initiatives.
In the meantime, if you would like to make a donation or if you’d like to be part of our fundraising team, please contact us.
