Our History
1956 – 1979
In 1979 a commemorative booklet produced for the opening of Pearse Park included a section on the Camogie Club written by Chairman Mickey McCloskey. His informative and succinct article is photographed below and provides the history of camogie in Kilrea up to that date.
1979 – present
The Club continued to field teams throughout the 1980s and early ‘90s. Unfortunately at this stage camogie in Kilrea stopped, with girls from the area playing for neighbouring teams until the club was reformed again in 1999.
From this point onwards the club has flourished and today is well-established and supported. Membership continues to thrive at underage and with a second senior team now up and running the future of the club is in good hands for now and the foreseeable future.
